Clean the Screens

What's the number one cause of low water flow from a faucet? A buildup of grit trapped by screen filters that screw onto the tips of most faucets. Amazingly, even a tiny amount of sediment trapped against the screen can plug the flow a lot, and before you know it you will have only a trickle of water.

To fix the problem, you simply unscrew the filters from the faucets and wash them off. You faucets will be reborn, and you should have a steady flow of water. Some screens cannot be removed so easily, however, especially those in washing machines. Here, the water supply hoses have to be unscrewed from the back of the machine with a wrench and the filter screens vacuumed free of grit. An annual cleaning should take care of most troubles.
