Children experience tremendous physical and emotional changes as they go through adolescence. One minute they will seem rational and well-grounded and the next they may appear to be from another planet!

It can be difficult to understand what your child is experiencing during these "roller coaster" years. So, begin discussing feelings openly with your child at an early age.

Parents who are attentive and listen to their children's concerns will help their children feel more secure-and secure children are more likely to be open about their feelings.

As primary caregivers, parents are the first line of defense in helping prevent normal adolescent turmoil from becoming something more serious.

Reminder: Parents must be aware of and attentive to their own emotional well being as children "learn" or model from what they see in their parents!
